Trackers not in Tag Manager

Whether trackers pasted straight into your pages, like a Meta pixel, Hotjar or a YouTube video, wait until a visitor agrees.

We recommend

Held until visitors agree, whenever the scan finds any.

Google's consent signal only reaches Google's tags. These ignore it, and EU and UK law needs a yes first. We switch this on for a new site once the scan finds one.

You don't need to change this if it's already on, or the scan found no trackers outside Tag Manager.

When you'd choose otherwise
  • Choose Run straight away only if every one of them is needed for the page to work. Better: move that tracker to the category it belongs in, on the Banner page, and it is held or released to match.
  • What holding costs: on a first visit, held trackers wait for your banner's rules to load, one short request. If the rules can't load, they stay held.
  • What it can't hold: if our script itself can't load (an outage on our side), these trackers run as if we weren't installed. Google's tags still start with every signal denied.

For developers
  • The blocker runs inside our tag, before any later script on the page. It holds scripts, iframes and image pixels from the listed hosts, whether the page or other code adds them, and never holds Tag Manager.
  • Your own mark always works: <script type="text/plain" data-ts-category="marketing">.
