Where your data is stored
Each site keeps its consent records, events and Tag Manager change history in one region: the EU or the US.
We recommend
The region where your business is. We suggest one when you add the site.
It's chosen once and can't be changed, on every plan including Free. We read your domain, where you signed in and your time zone, and suggest the EU when nothing decides.
You don't need to change this if the region shown for your site is where your business is based.
When you'd choose otherwise
- Choose the other region if a contract or your own customers require it.
- Residency is where data rests, not what visitors see. A site stored in the US still shows EU visitors the EU banner.
- To move a site, add it again in the other region. Records already collected stay where they were stored.
